Writing Update For July

Burned? Fizzled.

I finally stopped writing, almost cold turkey. I was feeling burned out but still trying to force myself to write every day, and then around the halfway point in this month, I finally just stopped. I started book 7 of my fantasy series, but didn't get very far into it. I still want to write, but even this blog post took me a few tries to compose.

I suppose it was inevitable. I mean... I wrote a lot this year; more than half a million words of new fiction. I'll probably spend at least three years editing and publishing what I've written in the past few months. I wish I could have finished the first draft of my fantasy series, but I didn't. Maybe I'll feel like writing again in a few months and can take a stab at finishing it.

In the meantime, I'm actually getting back into computer programming, which I haven't done much with in a long time. Sometimes it feels disadvantageous to have so many interests in life. But when I focus on one task and put all my creative energy into it... well, writing half a million words in 183 days is the result.

How Much Did I Write in July?

Fewest words written:  0 (most days, actually)
Most words written: 3,473 (July 10th)
Average words per writing day: 2,467 (average for the days I wrote)
Average words per day: 1,114 (including all the no-writing days)
Total words written in July: 34,543
Total words this year: 512,103
